I bought 18 postcards from cities in Brazil and I’m mailing them, handwritten, to people around the world. Friends, strangers, whoever signs up first. Give me a real address and one could land in your mailbox before the end of the year.

I bought 18 postcards from cities in Brazil. They've been sitting on my desk for a while, and for no good reason at all, I decided to mail them to people around the world. Friends, strangers, whoever signs up first. If you're reading this, one of them could be yours.

Why bother? #

Most of what we send each other now disappears in a scroll. A like, a reply, a message that's buried by the next one. A postcard is the opposite. It takes weeks to cross the ocean, it gets a little beaten up on the way, and then one day it's just there, in your mailbox, a piece of paper someone actually touched.

I wanted a small excuse to connect with real people in the real world. Something you can hold, put on the fridge, use as a bookmark or throw in a drawer and find again in five years. Something written by hand, by a person, for you.

How it works #

Each card gets its own message, written by hand in my ugly handwriting. No copy and paste, no template. Whatever comes to mind when I read your name and your little note.

You fill in the form with your name, email, address and country. There's an optional field for a note, if you want to tell me something about yourself, what you like, or what you'd like the card to say.

Then check your inbox and reply to my email, so I know you're a real person and not a bot.

I'll mail all of them by the last week of November. After that, it's up to the postal services of the world. Some cards will arrive in a week, some in a month, and at least one will probably take the scenic route.

The only rule #

Give me a real address. I'm doing this with care, and I'd hate to see a card get lost on its way to a street that doesn't exist.

I read every request myself, and no real one gets turned down. Your address will only be used to mail your postcard. I won't share it with anyone, and I'll delete it when this round ends.

Only 18 #

There are only 18 cards, and when they're gone, the page closes until I buy more. So if you want one, don't think too hard about it.

And if you know someone who'd smile at finding a postcard from Brazil in their mailbox, send them the link. Friends of friends are very welcome.
