When We Fail Ourselves

When we fail ourselves, everything fails us. The world grows
poor, even when it is full. The house feels less like a house, the
body less like a body, the word less like a word. It is not the other
who disappears first. We abandon ourselves in silence, and only
afterward do we find solitude strange.
